About the Johns Island Community Service League:
In February 1980, Johnny Van Name took the initiative to establish the League. With a keen desire to highlight the needs of John's Island residents, both full-time and part-time, she embarked on a mission to enhance their community. Her vision was clear: to generate funds that could provide assistance to women and children who had endured abuse. To realize this goal, she pioneered the inception of a thrift shop, which has since become renowned as the Tambourine Resale Shop. Their vision is transforming lives in Indian River County through leadership, collaboration and dedicated philanthropy.
