Catholic Charities receives grant from the Early Learning Coalition of Indian River County

Catholic Charities is please to announce a grant award of $40,000 from the Early Learning Coalition of Indian River, Martin and Okeechobee under the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act Early Learning Discretionary Grant Program for families experiencing homelessness.   

The Samaritan Center is a transitional housing program serving homeless families from Indian River County focusing on “life skills development” (parenting, budgeting, education), with the primary goal of promoting self-sufficiency, healthy family values and structure leading to successful re-entry into independence upon graduation.  Last year, the Samaritan Center served 93 homeless individuals, 52% of which were children.  

Funding through this grant is allocated to expenses related to the services provided to homeless children residing at the center.
